An elemental mix of metal and wood, an icy color palette, and strong-boned furnishings define this Asian-look bedroom. Interior designer Gail Prauss created it for an Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society and ASID showhouse, choosing a striking faux-bamboo bed as a focal point. Blue-green Venetian plaster on the walls makes a dramatic backdrop for a Tibetan rug, an English Regency–style ottoman upholstered in pale silk, and woven bamboo shades. The exaggerated shapes of the lampshades echo the horizontal elements of the design-just right for a room in which getting horizontal is what it's all about.
